If you’re dropping off and picking up someone from the Elders, park out the front but make sure you stay with your vehicle or pay for parking as people have been ticketed out there.
To leave your vehicle for longer, there’s metered parking out the front of the building on St Johns St and free 2hr parking around the corner in Canning St (between St Johns St and George St).
If you don’t mind a steep walk, there’s 3hr parking further up the hill on Wellman St and, if there’s a spot, free and unlimited parking on Canning St between George and Wellman streets.
There is other street parking, for an indefinite period, available within walking distance of the Elders. Click here for a Launceston City map showing unrestricted parking near St Johns St.

The Elders is open every Monday to Thursday from 9am to 4pm.
We’re closed from Friday to Sunday.
Every year our doors are closed from 20 December to around 24 January.

Unfortunately the Elders isn’t wheelchair accessible due to the age of the building and lack of support/funding for this type of renovation. If you’d like to visit with someone who has a disability or any mobility challenges then please come and check access before that visit.

It’s not necessary to wear a mask but we do ask you check your temperature when you sign in at the door, and if you do have the sniffles or symptoms of a flu or cold then please delay your visit.
